CIF value = China purchase price + freight + marine insurance. Most destination duties are assessed on CIF; where a rule uses a different base, the line says so.

Duty = CIF × duty rate. VAT is computed on the base recorded with the rule — typically CIF + duty (the "duty-paid value"), sometimes CIF plus duty plus excise. Levies (e.g. Kenya's IDF and RDL) are added on CIF.

Only verified rates enter the total. Rules marked Verification required or Conflicting are listed under "Verify with customs" and are excluded from the sum — public official guidance for them is not settled. You can type a rate you have had confirmed by a broker; manual entries are labelled as yours and included.

Local-currency fees (registration, annual taxes) are listed in their own currency. They enter the total only if you provide an FX rate — marked as your assumption.
